Outdoor family portraits are always fun. As a result of lockdown rules being eased slightly, I am now able to take bookings for outdoor family portrait sessions. Being outdoors means it is easier for us to follow all recommended government rules on social distancing. Portrait sessions can be arranged for a wide variety of times. This can be a weekend or as a result of the great weather we are having now, how about a summer evening? They can take place in a variety of locations – on a walk, in a park, or even on the beach!
Below are some images from a family portrait shot a few years ago. It took place in one of my favourite locations on the Quantocks.
Fun times
Family portrait sessions are not just about boring old posed portraits. After I have have taken some portraits, it is time to explore the area. This could be a park, the moors, the woods or even the beach. I believe the best portraits are taken when everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. This is the time when I let the kids run wild and have fun – climbing trees, on a rope swing or skimming stones. Just as long as they concentrating on what they are doing and not on me. I can then take photographs of them enjoying themselves and letting their personality come through in the photographs.
Mum and Dad
Of course it is not all about the kids. Whilst many parents will have photographs of one of them with the kids. How many will have a photo of the two of them together? After I have photographed the kids I will also make sure I capture of few of mum and dad.
