Family Photography

by Taunton portrait photographer Mark Cox Photography A family portrait session is one of my favourite sessions. Rather than having a set timeline like a wedding, family portrait sessions are very relaxed with no set plan. In the majority of the family sessions, we agree to meet at a set location and just go for a walk. Along the way, I will spot various locations and take some photographs but there is nothing set in stone. I try to make the session as relaxed as possible. As a result, I find I am able to get many more great images [...]

Underwater Photography – Blackbrook Leisure Centre

by Taunton Photographer, Mark Cox Photography Underwater photography is quickly becoming addictive for me! At present it may only be at Blackbrook Leisure Centre and Spa but consequently it's got me hooked! Most of all being a diver I'm looking forward to using the new skills and new equipment when I go on holiday. Several months ago I was approached by the local Partnership Manager for GLL about a new possible project. The project involves underwater photography for some of the swimming lessons at the local GLL sites. After much discussion I was onboard with the project. First of [...]

A Mothers Day Present

by family portrait photographer, Mark Cox Photography On the blog today are some images from a portrait shoot I was commissioned to do a few years ago for a Mothers Day present. All images were shot in the grounds of the beautiful Hestercombe House. After the shoot a wonderful, large framed print was produced just in time for that priceless Mothers Day Present. Happy Mother's Day to all those wonderful Mother's out there! Enjoy! Would you like to arrange a family portrait session or purchase a family portrait gift voucher? Are you planning a birthday party or wedding anniversary celebration? [...]

Cranberries Hideaway Wedding

by Somerset wedding photographer, Mark Cox Photography Cranberries Hideaway is a beautiful wedding venue near Kilmington, Devon on the Devon and Dorset Border. In August last year, I was fortunate to be asked to photograph the wedding of Lucy and Rich at Cranberries Hideaway. It is such as wonderful location with fabulous views. On a clear day, from the outdoor ceremony you can see all the way to the sea near Seaton. With accommodation on site and everyone in one place this was a going to be a fabulous day with no rushing between Venus. Nevertheless, to ensure I captured [...]

Mount Somerset Hotel Wedding

by Taunton wedding photographer, Mark Cox Photography The Mount Somerset Hotel, located between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills just outside of Taunton, is probably one of my favourite venues for wedding photography. There are the beautful rooms with high ceilings, a spiral staircase and some very grand décor. It is certainly a fabulous venue for a country wedding. Not to mention some great views of Somerset! In August 2017, I was lucky enough to photograph the wedding of James and Alicia at the Mount Somerset Hotel. Following a service at the very small but gorgeous church at Greinton it was [...]

Dunster Castle – Christmas Wedding

by Taunton wedding photographer, Mark Cox Photography I love a good wedding and a Christmas wedding is very special. My last wedding of 2017 was at the very beautiful Dunster Castle in Somerset. Before the wedding the bride and groom got ready at Emmetts Grange holiday cottages based in the heart of Exmoor. At 1250 feet above sea level the property offers spectacular views of Exmoor. Unfortunately on the day the weather was not so wonderful. For most of the time we could only see fog! When hair and make up had finished and everyone was ready, it is was [...]

A Taunton Wedding with a bicycle made for two!

by Taunton Wedding Photographer, Mark Cox Photography Summer has passed but I wanted to share some images from a local Taunton wedding that I photographed at the start of my summer wedding season. The wedding of Hannah and Andrew took place at All Saints Church, Trull with the reception just across the road in the Church Community Centre. I only managed to meet Andrew once before the wedding as he was living in Singapore until a few days before the big day. The wedding day was a beautiful day that started for Hannah at HAIR@22 for hair and make-up. Then [...]

Family Portraits – Capturing Memories

by Taunton portrait photographer, Mark Cox Photography My Family Portraits are always fun sessions. I always try to remember a favourite saying of mine when I have a family portrait session: "A Smile happens in a flash...It's memory lasts a lifetime." My aim on any family portrait session is to capture everyone having fun and therefore provide my client with a collection of beautiful images they can treasure forever. Each session is different and for the majority of my family portrait sessions there are no planned formal shots or set poses. First of all, sessions normally take place at a [...]

Family Holiday Portraits

by Somerset portrait photographer, Mark Cox Photography With so many things to do in the area, it is easy to see why people come to Somerset for their family holiday. There are several beaches near by, the West Somerset Railway and of course Exmoor to explore. Furthermore there are lots of wonderful places to stay. This family stayed in the very beautiful Old Rectory, part of the Sleeps12 group of properties in Somerset. This luxury sleeps up to 18 people with glorious views of the sea on the North Somerset Coast. Fortunately we were blessed with some lovely weather. As [...]

A Friends Wedding

by Mark Cox Photography It is always nice to be asked to photograph a friends wedding! As a Wedding Photographer I am lucky to photograph weddings all over the county and further afield. In 2017 I will be visiting some new venues from the beautiful Cranberries Hideaway in Devon to a gorgeous stately home in Shropshire. However, it is always nice when I have a wedding close to home. My last wedding of 2016, was the wedding of Paul and Kerry. Both Paul and Kerry are good friends. The wedding was held in at the Somerset Register Office in Taunton. [...]
