Every time I photograph a wedding I always say to the happy couple “ensure you enjoy the day as it goes so fast.” This might seem very patronising but from experience every guest wants to wish the happy couple all the best for their future life together and very rarely do the newly wedded couple get to spend much time alone to enjoy the moment. This is why I was always try and get a few minutes alone with the bride and groom for some personal wedding portraits. Not only does this allow me to create some great images; it gives the happy couple time alone to relax and enjoy some time alone as husband and wife.

For one recent wedding, I knew there was something more important for the happy couple than some wedding portraits. I first met Hannah and Matt several years ago and they have become good friends. I was honoured when they asked me to photograph their wedding. The wedding had been arranged in just 8 weeks as the couple found out that Hannah’s mum had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Although we managed some time away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding, clearly spending time with those closest to them was the priority for the day. The blog of the images from their wedding day can be found here

After the wedding I visited Hannah and Matt so they could view wedding images. During the viewing, the subject of Hannah’s dress came up in conversation as Hannah was not sure what she wanted to do with it. It was then I suggested a second photo shoot of her in the dress – A chance to show off the dress and enjoy wearing it again. A genre of photography known as “Cherish the Dress” created by top Cheshire based photographer Chris Hanley.

We agreed on the shoot and arranged a date for earlier this year. I knew the perfect location for the session as I have recently been working with a local venue in Dunster called the Luttrell Arms to promote their wedding services. The Luttrelll Arms is located in the heart of Dunster and dates from the 13th century. It has spectacular medieval features and picturesque gardens with the added bonus of Dunster Castle as the backdrop. A perfect location to show off a beautiful wedding dress. Sadly Hannah’s mum is no longer with us but this blog is dedicated Hannah, Matt and her mum. Thanks for a fabulous day x
